Earlier this year, up-and-coming hip-hop artist Chinx, hailed as a savior of East Coast rap and possible heir to the long-vacant “King of New York” throne, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting mere weeks after granting what turned out to be one of his final interviews to SMOOTH. The rapper was enthusiastic about the state of hip-hop and his future as an artist—a future that has now been tragically cut short.
